Nicole Mehringer was formerly a
Commander in the LAPD. In 2018 she was arrested in Glendale in an
unmarked LAPD vehicle with a subordinate employee. The car had somehow
come to rest against a legally parked vehicle. Both Mehringer and her
companion appeared to be snockered. Mehringer was not driving.
Mehringer
was charged with public intoxication. The charge was dismissed after
she completed a recovery program. The subordinate copped to DUI.
Mehringer
was subsequently fired after refusing to be demoted. She sued the
city, citing alleged gender discrimination and retaliation. She
asserted the male cops in similar circumstances were treated far less
harshly.
The jury believed Mehringer's attorney to the tune of $5.7 million.

I wish I had a count of the number of male cops found bad drunk. Some of them on duty. Seldom arrested. She has a point and given the time to reach a settlement the amount wasn't that great with attorney fees of 40%.
