Timothy Popplewell, Raymond
Olivares and Richard Cranford are cops with the Riverside PD in sunny
California. They are maybe-probably about to be former cops. They
don't like it and are taking legal action.
They
are rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Administration. That means
they are legally entitled to DISABLED license plates, which they have
had since 2025. They were suspended ten months ago, accused of making
false claims about their physical limitations in order to gain parking
privileges and reduced DMV fees. They are asserting that these
suspensions discriminate against them as disabled veterans.
These
officers were summoned to HQ on Wednesday and served with formal
disciplinary paperwork. They have a private lawyer for the
anti-discrimination lawsuit over the suspension. They have a union
lawyer for the disciplinary action. Their union lawyer has declined
comment. they are awaiting their Skelly Hearing.
The exact nature of the officers disabilities has not yet been made public.
The city has thus far declined to settle the lawsuit.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Something here doesn't pass the smell test. If they are 100% disabled, how can they be cops?
