After 99 years CBS is shutting down its radio news
programming. That is a damn shame. At one time they were very good. I
vaguely remember Edward R Murrow. Our esteemed editor's generation
remember him as the American voice from WWII London. He left CBS in the
early 1960s to run the USIA for President Kennedy. I vaguely remember
when that happened.
I understand, at least to some extent, the market forces propelling this decision. I still think it is a damn shame.
The last broadcast will be in two months. I will make a point of listening. It will be truly the end of an era.
