A TALE OF TWO CITIES: CHICAGO AND HOUSTON

I just got this from my old buddy John. It is a comparison of statistics between Chicago, Illinois and Houston, Texas. I thought you might find it interesting.

Chicago has a population of about 2.7 million, Houston 2.15 million. Reasonably close. Chicago has a median income of $38,600 and Houston has $37,000. Very close.

Chicago, like the rest of Illinois, has no provision for the legal carrying of arms for self-defense. It is the only state in the union that has that. Texas, on the other hand, has no problem with legal concealed carry.

Houston has 84 gun stores plus about 1500 other places to buy guns legally. Chicago has none.

Last year Chicago had 806 murders, with a rate of 28.4 per 100,000. Houston had 207 murders, with a rate of 9.6 per 100,000.

As John points out, with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek, it is obvious that cold weather causes murders.
