This is the bizarre moment police force their way into a woman's home to find the intruder they are looking for masturbating naked on the sofa.

The Columbus Police Campus Walkie Crew, a bike unit who patrol the Ohio State University Campus in the U.S., were called at around 11pm to reports of an intruder trying to 'sexually assault' two women in their home.

An operator asks one of them if she knows the man, to which she replies 'No, I don't know him at all'.

Footage filmed by one of the officer's body cameras shows a group of officers approach the property and shine a light through the window to reveal the young man lying on the sofa inside.

As they force their way in, they find him 'masturbating' with his shirt off and trousers pulled down.

The officers take a look around the house, while the others order him to 'get down on the ground'.

Handcuffing him, one is heard telling him: 'You're in somebody else's house.'

Another says to his colleague: 'I've got him on video masturbating. He's been there for probably about 10 minutes.'

An ID card reveals the intruder is 22-year-old Calvin Bishop Lynn, who police claim was last known living a three hour drive away in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dragging him to his feet one policeman says: 'Calvin we're going to get you up and get your pants back on.'

According to local TV channel NBC4, he was charged with burglary and 'public indecency engaging in a sex act', and the two women escaped unharmed.

Commander Jennifer Knight told the channel: 'The female resident had stated that an unknown male had entered the residence and had attempted to sexually assault two individuals inside.'

She added the Campus Walkie Crew, made up of 12 uniformed officers and a sergeant on bikes, is 'a very effective tool for ensuring the safety of students and managing criminal activity'.
