SLENDER MAN CASE

by Bob Walsh

A jury in Wisconsin will, beginning this weak, decide whether Anissa Weier was or was not mentally ill (in the legal sense) at the time she at a road dog attempted to stab one of their friends to death as a sacrifice to the Slender Man internet character. All were 12 at the time. The victim survived 19 stab wounds and crawled to a bike path where a passer-by noticed her and got help.

Ms. Weier has already copped to the act, but maintains she is not legally culpable due to mental illness. It has already been agreed by everybody involved that if found not guilty she must do at least three years in a mental hospital. If found guilty of attempted second degree murder she will do ten years as a guest of the state in a less supportive environment.
