Last year Amanda Hawkins, 19, of Texas left her two small children in a hot car for about 15 hours. She drove Brynn Hawkins, 1, and Addyson Overgard-Eddy, 2, to a friends house in Kerrville overnight while she hung out in the air conditioned house with her buddies. The children died.

At about noon on June 7 she got the girls dead bodies out of the car, gave them a bath and then took them to a hospital.

A teenage boy, Kevin Franke, is also facing charges in the incident. Allegedly he went out to sleep in the car at some point and was unaware the children were there. He turned the car off, which was running with the A.C. on, and rolled up with windows. Franke, who is now 18, is being prosecuted for first degree murder in the case.

Hawkins was sentenced to 40 years as a guest of the people of Texas.
