WILL THRONES RAMPAGE THRU THE EMMY AWARDS LIKE A FIRE BREATHING DRAGON ?

by Bob Walsh

Tonight is the Emmy Awards show. It will be unhosted. I guess they figure that viewers may have been getting turned off by the constant barrage of political commentary on what was supposed to be professional recognition awards shows and this is the way to avoid it. Maybe. We will see. If I remember correct it worked only marginally for the Oscars.

Game of Thrones has been nominated for a total of 57 Emmy Awards during its history, the most ever. It has won 12 in one year, twice. Also a record. It has a record number of nominations in one year for this year, 32.

it is a far cry from a sure thing. The competition in the numbers game will be stiff with Veep also making its swan song. Sandra Oh and Viola Davis will be serious competitors in the Best Actress category, and they clearly have some valuable PR boxes to check off that Emilia Clark does not have. She is very, very white.

I intend to watch it, if nothing else to see how much anti-Trump hate speech they can shove in even without a host to direct it all.

Have fun. I'd rather watch Longmire on Netflix.
