People
who are up on such things are asserting that Alec Baldwin the actor is
unlikely to face either civil or criminal problems over the shooting on
the set of the movie RUST, but Alec Baldwin the producer might, along
with some others of the production company.
Assuming
the press has it right by now there were two other "unintended
discharges" of live rounds from a supposedly "cold" gun, fired by a
stuntman, in the days prior to the fatal shooting.
Live
ammunition on a set is supposed to be very highly controlled and
preferably completely absent from a set. The cops found a couple of
hundred lives rounds in a fanny pack just laying around somewhere. It
has been reported that cast members often used the prop guns for
informal target practice with live rounds during off hours.
It
also seems that the prop gun that Baldwin fired did not go directly
from a person having control of the supposedly "cold" guns to Baldwin
but rather went thru an intermediary. They seemed to have had a LOT of
safety procedure issues on the set.
A
lot of people are getting the eyeballs sued out. The armorer may loose
her certification (probably will I would guess) and everybody who ever
farted near one of those guns is likely to be sued.

I read somewhere that actor Nick Cage has come forward with allegations of unsafe practices by the same armorer.
