A lawyer for the California Prison Industries Authority is suing the prison system for retaliation.
Jeff
Sly (hell of a name for a lawyer) is the general counsel for he Prison
Industries Authority. His complaint asserts that Scott Walker, the
former General Manager of CalPIA, harassed him and attempted to force
him to retire in retaliation for a complaint he filed against Walker.
Sly
has had his gig since 2006. Walker took his (former) job in 2019. Sly
alleges that Walker was prone towards hostile and abuse conduct towards
Sly on an ongoing, virtually continual basis. He further asserts that
Walker began to try to force him to retire almost from Walker's first
days as general manager.
Sly
complained to the Office of Internal Affairs and expressed concerns
that he would be retaliated against for making the complaint. He was
assured that the complaint was strictly confidential. A couple of
months later Walker jacked Sly up in Walker's office, and played an
audio clip from that "confidential" interview.
Off the top of my head I think that Sly has a real good case.
