The formerly great state of California now has what is
supposed to be a functional budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Among
other things it will charge illegal aliens $30 per month for state
funded (meaning taxpayer funded) health care. It also kicks down up to
$750 million in various tax credits to help bring the movie industry
back to California, which may actually turn out to be a financially good
move. Maybe.
I do not yet
know what the status of the stalled-off pay raises for state civil
service workers is. I strongly suspect the budget assumes that this
will occur. That is far from a done deal, though the governor has the
authority to cram it down the throats of the state workers if he feels
the need to do so. He would rather the unions go along with the program
for obvious political reasons.
I
strongly suspect this will become a secondary issue come July 1 when
the newest gas tax boost comes on line. Next year, when two oil
refinery operations shut down permanently in CA, taking out about 20% of
the fuel production in CA, gas prices are likely to skyrocket. At that
time the peons may actually get tired of getting peed on and may start
becoming unpleasant.
Time will tell.
