IT'S NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT TO EQUATE TERRORISM WITH MUSLIMS OR ISLAM

The Los Angeles Times this week, in an editorial on ‘Islamic terrorism’ and the Obama administration, chided the administration for "assiduously avoiding terms that recognize the distinct threat posed by those who cite Islam as a rationalization for terror."
　
For example, the counter-terrorism working group of the Homeland Security Department avoids using the words ‘terrorism,’ ‘Muslim’ or ‘Islam,’ referring instead to "ideologically motivated violent crime" because to Muslims terms, such as "Islamic extremists," "Islamic terrorists," and "radical Islam" equates Islam with violence.
　
The Times editorial says "the administration has been excessively delicate in its language and has opened itself to a charge of political correctness run amok." No kidding! It’s obvious that the administration is going out of its way to avoid offending any of America’s Muslims.
　
According to the Times, the new National Security Strategy holds that "neither Islam nor any other religion condones the slaughter of innocents." Have they ever got that wrong! To Islam, infidels are not innocents. The Quran clearly calls for the forced conversion of infidels. Muhammad called on the faithful to take up the sword with the clarion call of "Death to the Infidels."
　
There is a huge difference between the Muslims living in the United States and those living in Europe. The European Muslims are fundamentalists who have refused to assimilate with non-Muslims. On the other hand, most of America’s Muslims are not fundamentalists and have assimilated with the general population.
　
Most American Muslims are very much like most American Jews. Their religious practices and beliefs have been liberalized, similar to the liberalism of Reform Jews. To fundamentalist Muslims, America’s liberal Muslims are seen as infidels, just like Orthodox Jews who see Reform Jews as ‘Christians Without Christ.'

We see our country as a bastion of freedom and democracy while Islam sees America as the ‘Great Satan.’ Terrorism is construed in the eye of the beholder. Westerners see deadly attacks on civilians and government buildings as terrorism. Fundamentalist Muslims see those attacks as mere tactics in a jihad against infidels.
　
All the political correctness cannot alter the fact that the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the attempted shoe bombing and the attempted underwear bombing, the slaughter at Fort Hood and the attempted Times Square bombing were all carried out by Muslims. And all the political correctness cannot alter the fact that Islamic terorrism now constitutes the greatest threat to Western civilization.
