A Houston Chronicle reader hits the nail right on the head in his letter to the editor:
WORLD LAUGHING
In regard to the editorial "Turkey's choices; The Ankara government's decision to cozy up to Iran's renegade regime is troubling" (Page B11, Sunday), Turkey's government courts the Iranian president. The Russians and Chinese dilute sanctions against Iran that were proposed by the Obama administration. Brazil and Turkey vote against the sanctions after brokering a deal with Iran to transfer Iran's uranium. Then, Turkey supports Hamas, which attempts to violently end the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza. North Korea launches a torpedo and sinks a South Korean naval vessel.
Our president and his administration chose a path to appease our enemies, and to abandon our friends and allies, and the Chronicle now proposes that the president get tough with the Turkish government. Seriously?
President Obama is the problem, and it is too late for him to ever be the solution. The world is laughing — we voted ourselves a Jimmy Carter clone for president. Hopefully we can vote him out of office in time to avert the next world war.
