I suspect that this is why they call some people ‘Dumb Mexicans.’ He pulled a ‘replica weapon’ that looked like a semi-automatic handgun on cops who were chasing him. That was really dumb. And if he thought it would actually fire bullets, that was even dumber.

A total doofus learned that pulling a fake gun on real cops is not a way to ensure a long and healthy life. Last evening a pedestrian attempted to cross into the U.S. at San Ysidro and attempted to evade screening. The Customs officer yelled for him to stop, and he beat feet. Two other agents grabbed him, then he pulled a chrome-plated semi-auto from his waistband and pulled the trigger. The weapon produced the sound of a shot being fired. The two customs people then pulled real guns that shot real bullets and gave the doofus a couple of extra bodily orifices.
The doofus is expected to survive and is currently a guest of Uncle Sam at a local hospital, under guard. One customs officer was slightly injured in the initial scuffle.
