A 61-year old woman was run down by a hit-and-run driver near San Diego yesterday while she was retrieving the body of her dog from a road.
The woman discovered her dead pet about 11:30 p.m. last night along Central Avenue in the Castle neighborhood of City Heights. As she was removing the dog she was hit by an older four-door red Buick. The car did not stop.
The as-yet unnamed victim is in the hospital with a broken leg and lacerated liver.
