ELECTION NIGHT RESULTS LEAD TO SPOUSAL KNOCKDOWN AND DRAG-OUT

Obama supporting attorney busted for busting his Romney supporting wife

I can understand her kicking the crap out of him because her candidate lost, but him doing that to her when his candidate won … that I don’t understand. Could it have been the euphoria of Obama’s win?

An alleged domestic assault on election night has a local defense attorney and marine Iraq vet facing a felony family violence charge.

According to court records, David Christopher Hesse was drinking beer and watching election returns with his wife Sandra Hesse in their Clear Lake-area home on November 6. His wife later told police that Hesse, who stands six-foot-six and weighs close to 200 pounds, was not intoxicated.

Still, the two were apparently simmering as the evening unfolded. Like James Carville and Mary Matalin, Chris is an Obama supporter and Sandra was up for Romney.

At some point, Chris Hesse said he wished he could watch the result elsewhere. Then the election was called in the president's favor. Sandra admitted becoming upset, and reportedly said "That's two bad decisions."

And then, according to the report, Chris flew off the handle.

The report states that he grabbed his wife, first by the hair and neck. Then, the report states that he had both hands around her neck. Finally, according to the report, he took one hand off her neck and placed it over her nose and mouth. A cop on the scene later took note of scratches and redness on Sandra's neck and ears, and she told an officer that she believed Chris was trying to kill her.

Chris Hesse faces a felony charge of domestic violence with a choking enhancement. The report notes that when contacted by police, Hesse told them to speak to his lawyer. (That lawyer's identity is not in the report.) A warrant has been issued for Hesse's arrest.

According to his online bio and CV, Hesse grew up in Houston and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He served in the Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003, including a tour-of-duty in Iraq. After graduating from Texas Tech Law School, Hesse worked for about six months as a prosecutor in the Potter County District Attorney's office in Amarillo.

After that he came to Houston and hung out his shingle as a criminal defense attorney in 2007.

The top result on the "Case Results" section of his web page is his successful jury trial defense of a client arrested for assault / family violence in Amarillo.

This is Hesse's first arrest in Harris County, and public records did not turn up any others elsewhere.
