PRIVATEER SUED OVER PRISON HOMICIDE

By Bob Walsh

The private operator of the Cimarron Correctional Facility at Cushing, OK, is being sued over the murder of a criminal at their facility. An unspecified inmate is also being sued.

Kyle Tiffee, 23, was one of four prisoners murdered in a large disturbance at that facility one year ago. Various prison staffers assert that the fight was between two gangs of white inmates. The Corrections Corporation of America, the operator of the facility, has not commented on any suspected motivation for the murders.

The lawsuit asserts that the operator was negligent and that various prison employees were complicity in allowing a buildup of contraband in inmate cells.

No charges have been filed in the four deaths. The Oklahoma DOC has thus far refused to release video of the riot, citing security concerns.
