The local DA has launched a criminal probe into the fire that is now known to have killed over 30 people at a Rave in an illegally converted warehouse in Oakland, CA.
It will take the fire department at least a few more days to finish sifting thru the rubble for human remains, only a few of which have been identified.
The DA is also looking at any decisions or actions the city code enforcement people may have taken, or not taken, against that building in the last several months. It is known that a code enforcement officer attempted to enter the building a few weeks back but was unable to do so. It is also known the neighbors complained loudly and repeatedly about an accumulation of general crap in and around the building.
I suspect that, at a minimum somebody's fanny at code enforcement is in for some rough time. They may even throw one or two peons to the wolves (if they can find any who are white and relatively senior).
