Daniel Randall was formerly a chaplain in the U. S. Air Force. He also had an alcohol abuse problem. On Thursday he left the Liberty Bay Recovery Center in Portland, Maine and bought a shotgun. He then drove to his home in Hebron, west of Portland. When he got there he shotgunned his daughter Claire, 27, with several rounds, then killed himself.
Randall did not have a key to the home and was estranged from his family. His wife, Anita, had filed for divorce. He left a note, written on the wall of the house, saying, "Anita, it's all your fault."
Booze, anger and maybe a bit of depression do not mix.
