The Third Circuit Court of Appeals has just ruled in favor of a lawsuit filed by a prisoner who is suing for retaliation for loss of his prison job in the law library.
Guy Vaughn Jr. was a guest of the people in Cambria County, PA. and worked in the law library. He was allegedly fired at the order of a local judge who was pissed that he was helping inmates file legal actions. He was removed from the job because he did not have a license to practice law. He pointed out (accurately) that no other law librarian in Cambria County has ever possessed a license to practice law.
A lower court had thrown out the case. The Third Circuit ruled that his suit, filed against various county officials and the judge, could proceed. He was in the county lockup while awaiting federal trial on selling stolen property thru his pawn shop. (I didn't even know that was a federal beef.)
