There has been, up to know, a general belief that maybe-probably Pacific Gas & Electric equipment started the massive fire in Nor Cal recently that killed over 20 people and destroyed more than 8,000 structures, mostly homes. There have already been several lawsuits filed against PG&E in the matter.
They may have been jumping the gun.
It now seems likely that the fire was started by privately owned, privately installed and privately maintained power line equipment that PG&E had absolutely NOTHING to do with. The equipment in question has been seized by CalFIRE as evidence in their investigation.
No determination has been made yet, but the deep pocket guys maybe didn't do it after all. Damn, the lawyers are going to hate that.
