It's easy. Put up a pre-fabbed bridge over an eight lane interstate highway in Miami and a few days later that bridge collapses killing people, injuring people, trapping people and smushing a lot of cars.
I don't know how much exposure, if any, the university will have since the pedestrian bridge in question was not yet open and the approaches were not completed. I suspect the architect or construction company will, however, be in deep kimchi over this. Rightfully so.

I heard the company was performing a stress test on the bridge at the time of the collapse. It seems to me that stopping traffic during this test would have been prudent.
Info released on Friday indicates an on-site engineer noticed cracks in the pre-stressed concrete deck and reported this fact up the chain of command. Whether his information was ignored, or thought to be unimportant, is not clear at this time. I would, however, be willing to bet that somebody somewhere will have his/her ass handed to him when this is over and may even face criminal negligence charges.
It should be noted various mainstream media outlets are already blaming Donald Trump and his desire to build the border wall for this engineering failure. The connection is tenuous, but who cares about that?
