There were only 1,100 original Walker Colts manufactured for use of the Texas Rangers during the Mexican-American war. There are only a few dozen thought to still exist.
The gun in question was found in a lock box in the bedroom of a Pennsylvania man. He unfortunately has Alzheimers and not explain how he came to be in possession of the revolver, which last surfaced at auction in the 1960s. '
A mint condition Walker, with its original wooden case, went for $1.4 million early this year. A less pristine one went for $920,000 ten years ago. This is definitely a six-figure pistol. The pistol is supposedly in untouched, original condition.
It will be interesting to see what it goes for.
I think once in a while on such goodies. Some years ago the Serial #1 Colt Peacemaker was found in the rafters of a barn in Maine, wrapped in an oily rag. That went for some serious money.
