I am not knocking the off-duty Border Patrol agent. When the shooting started, he was unarmed. He scooted to where he knew the Synagogue kept a pistol stashed, retrieved it, and went after the shooter. Taking a pistol against a rifle. That is not nothing.
That being said, IMHO, the real hero was the unarmed veteran who rushed the shooter from the rear of the Synagogue, yelling and screaming all the way. The shooter freaked and then split, and the unarmed man pursued him to his truck and tried to break into the truck to engage him physically. At that time the now-armed Border Patrol agent showed up, directed him to clear away from the truck and opened fire.
He's the guy who gets my major-league attaboys.
EDITOR'S NOTE: That being said, the reason the shooter fled the scene was because his rifle jammed. And he turned himself into the cops not long afterwards.

I never attend services unarmed. Kudos to both of these brave and heroic men.
Same here Trey. In fact, I rarely leave the house unarmed.
