Mark Stanford has decided to jump into the GOP primary in opposition to Donald Trump for 2020.
Stanford is mostly known for, while having been Governor of North Carolina, telling his family and staff that he was taking off to hike the Appalachian Trail and in fact flying to Argentina to play hide the salami with someone not his wife. He joins Joe Walsh and Bill Weld in this endeavor.
Stanford has been a frequent, loud critic of Trump.
He did manage to con the voters into sending him back to his old gig in Congress after his scandal so he still have some kind of ability to talk with and convince voters. He won a special election to congress in 2013 and was reelected to the gig twice more.
He says he knows he has almost no chance of actually unseating Trump, but that rather he wants to start a dialog about what it means to be a Republican.
Did I mention he doesn't like Trump?
