With Mitt Romney, Mike Lee and Rand Paul ready to support them, the Democrat will need only one more Republican senator’s support to keep Trump from taking any military action against Iran without congressional approval
After the Trump administration’s Wednesday briefing on the Soleimani assassination, Republican senators Mike Lee and Rand Paul were so enraged that they said they would support the Democrats enactment of the War Powers Act when it comes before the senate. Both senators said angrily that the briefing was “insulting and demeaning.”
Mitt Romney had already said he would support the Democrat’s resolution.
The House is expected to pass a War Powers Act resolution this week that will keep Trump from taking any military action against Iran without congressional approval.
With Romney, Lee and Paul aboard, the Democrats will need only one more Republican senator’s support to keep Trump from taking any military action against Iran without congressional approval. Odds are that one or more additional Republican senators will jump ship to support the resolution which will be binding on the President if passed by both houses of congress.

Whether you love or hate Rand Paul, he is the definition of a constitutional conservative, who believes in checks on executive power. His vote is 100 percent consistent with that ideology.
