Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell (left) says investigators are still probing into the discovery of three-year-old Christopher Ramirez (bottom right). Ramirez was found safe on Saturday five miles from his Houston home after he was lost in the woods for three days. Sowell says that although he expects no foul play, 'the case is not closed'.
Ramirez was found by Good Samaritan Tim Halfin who speculates that the toddler may have followed the pipeline that runs through the woods. Halfin said: 'No one expected him to travel five miles in that terrain. Maybe he followed a pipeline'.
The boy was released from the hospital Monday after being treated for dehydration and other ailments related to the incident. His mother, Araceli Nunez (pictured top right with other law enforcement members), is incredibly grateful to his rescuers. 'This is definitely a miracle. I can't even explain to you all with words,' Nunez said.
