ANOTHER SIG WHOOPSIE

Depending on who you ask this is just the latest in a series of SIG Sauer P320 police service pistols going bang without the trigger being pulled.

This little drama played out on the lobby of police H Q in Montville, Connecticut.  About seven cops were present to arrest one moron who was trying to steal drugs from the "get rid of your old pharmaceuticals" box in the lobby of the P. D.  There is excellent surveillance footage of the incident plus presumably body camera footage of the scene.  Nobody was injured by the discharge.

Three days after the incident the department announced a plan to dump the SIG product and switch over to Glock pistols, at a cost of about $20,000.  The department did a quickie survey of nearby communities that use the SIG product and none are planning to switch at this time.  Montville is planning to make the change in the very near future.

There are at least 100 known complaints of unintended discharges with the weapon, with the trigger allegedly not being pulled dating from 2016.  At least 80 people have been known to be injured in these incidents.
