A “broke” robber’s plan went wayward Wednesday after he crashed through a bank’s ceiling and into a recycling bin, where he was immediately captured by police.
Bodycam footage of the arrest shows the moment the suspect grimly realized his plan to raid the Ohio bank had failed.
Tristan Heidi, 27, was charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools and safecracking after trying to escape through a roof access door at an Ohio bank, according to the Huron Police Department.
Police said they responded just after 2 a.m. to an alarm notification that someone had crept into the VacationLand Federal Credit Union in Huron, a city about 50 miles west of Cleveland.
Officers arrived just in time to hear unusual sounds coming from above the bank’s drive-thru and witness the access door loudly swing open.
Without looking around to check his surroundings, the man loudly dropped his backpack onto the ground with a crash.

Moments later, the thief lowers himself out of the ceiling but loses his bearings upon hearing police rush toward him and crashes through the lid of a recycling bin directly below the access door.
“Aw f–k,” the man says upon learning his fate.
Trapped inside the can, the masked suspect immediately surrendered.
While officers rushed to handcuff the complying man, the recycling bin gave way a second time and dropped on its side with Heidi inside.

Huron police dragged him out of the bin by his sweatshirt and took him into custody.
Once in detention, Heidi continued to comply with officers and allegedly admitted to the foiled plot.
“He answered the officer’s questions truthfully and he just said he was broke,” Graham told Fox 8.
But the robbery was all for naught, according to the department — Heidi was not able to swipe any cash or valuables from the VacationLand bank.

The only thing he successfully stole was the recycling bin, which he grabbed from a nearby business to use as a prop to hoist himself through the bank’s access door.
The suspect posted a $50,000 bond and was released Friday following a court appearance.
