NOTABLE DEATH. ILLYA KURYAKIN

By Bob Walsh

Also an author, McCallum posed with a copy of his book Once a Crooked Man: A Novel in 2016

Illya Kuryakin, sometimes know as David McCallum, died Monday of natural causes at the age of 90.  He had a long and notable career on the small screen as well as the large.  He sprang to fame on TV as Illya Kuryakin, opposite Napoleon Solo in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. back in the 1960s.  There were also a couple of movies made with the original characters, as well as one remake with different casting that I recall.

Younger viewers will remember him as Dr. Mallard on NCIS.

My older sister had a crush on him when he played Illya on The Man from UNCLE.
