Galveston police investigate a shooting at a house party.

 

GALVESTON, Texas - Galveston police say two people were killed and others were injured during a shooting at a house party overnight.

The shooting was reported around 1:20 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Mendocino Drive in the Pointe San Louis subdivision. Captain Xavier Hancock said police received multiple calls about several gunshot victims. 

Police didn't release further details on those who were killed, just that they were both men. Authorities confirmed that others were injured by the gunfire but didn't indicate how many.

Several partygoers were interviewed about the shooting, but police say others left before authorities arrived on scene.

Lieutenant Sean Migues said at one point, police used ladders to get people down so they didn't contaminate the crime scene.

There are no suspects in custody authorities say, but partygoers interviewed by detectives had identified a possible suspect.

One woman at the scene told officials she was a teacher for many who attended the party and most of those at the holiday weekend gathering were from the Sweeny, West Columbia, and areas of Brazoria County.
