Pamela Price is the District Attorney of Alameda County.
She has been in office one year. There is a very strongly focused and
pretty well financed effort under way to throw her out on her ass. The
recall proponents need 73,195 signatures in the next 60 days to do the
job. It looks like a better than 50-50 chance they will get it.
She
is said by her opponents to be soft on crime in general and overly
supportive of restorative justice and rehabilitation. (Meaning even if
you are guilty you don't get punished.) Her opponents have raised more
than 30 times more than she has raised to support her position.
I
am, in general, a huge fan of "throw the bums out" movements. In this
case the push to toss her out on her tush is reasonable, informed and in
the interests of public safety and good government.
My personal guestimate is that, if they get the issue on the ballot, she is history.
