JERRY'S WATER THEFT PROJECT MAY BE COLLAPSING

by Bob Walsh

Jerry Brown's #2 favorite project (after #1 toy train) in the formerly great state of California is now called California WaterFix. Ideally (for Jerry) this would consist of two massive tunnels under the CA delta to steal (divert) massive amounts of water from the rivers before they get to the delta and send it to SoCal via the Califonria Aquaduct.

The state is trying to borrow a few billion from the feds for temporary financing. The feds ain't interested.

Now an obscure state agency, the Delta Stewardship Council, may be kicking sand in Jerry's face as he goes out the door. On December 20 they are going to vote on whether or not Jerry's theft plan complies with the "Delta Policy." That is a bunch of goals and policy procedures theoretically designed to put support of the ecosystem on the same level of importance as more reliable water supplies. So far every indication is that this council, which has been around for not quite ten years, is of the opinion that Jerry's planned thievery does NOT line up with the idea of balancing these goals.

Incoming governor Gavin Newsom is apparently luke-warm on the whole project and will not cry himself to sleep if it rolls over and dies. That will just be more money he can ship to illegal aliens to help them cross the border from Mexico.
