Days after her campaign ad went viral, Baltimore Republican congressional candidate Kim Klacik delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention that argued Democrats don't have a vice grip on big cities.

During a prerecorded video aired during the virtual convention on Monday, Klacik, a black woman, rejected the notion that black people have an obligation to vote for Democrats.

"Let me remind you," she said, "the Democrats have controlled this part of Baltimore City for over 50 years, and they have run this beautiful place right into the ground."

"Sadly, the same cycle of decay exists in many of America's Democrat-run cities, and yet, the Democrats still assume that black people will vote for them no matter how much they let us down and take us for granted. We're sick of it. We're not gonna take it anymore," she added. "The days of blindly supporting the Democrats are coming to an end."

Klacik offered an enthusiastic endorsement for President Trump.

"I'm asking you to help President Trump complete this great American comeback, and then I'm asking you to help me start this great Baltimore comeback."

Klacik is running for Maryland's 7th Congressional District, which includes more than half of Baltimore City, parts of Baltimore County, and the majority of Howard County. The area has been a Democratic stronghold for decades. It was most notably led by the late Elijah Cummings, who represented the area in Congress from 1996 until his death in 2019.

Klacik will face Democratic Rep. Kweisi Mfume, who defeated her in a special election in April to fill the rest of Cummings’s term, in November. If Klacik wins, she would become the first woman, as well as the first Republican, to represent the district.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Klacik also said: "Joe Biden believes we can't think for ourselves, that the color of someone's skin dictates their political views.  We're not buying the lies anymore, you and your party have ignored us for too long."

Unfortunately, Klacik's chances of defeating Mfume are slim to none.

She should be right. Whether she will or not is hard to tell. Social inertia is a powerful force.
