As
far as I can tell, these are the basic planks of the Democrat position
based on my limited viewing of the convention and news analysis of the
speeches.
1) Donald Trump is evil, as are people who support him or even consider voting for him.
2) If Biden is elected, everybody's taxes will go up, except illegal aliens, who will get free health care and blanket amnesty.
3)
If Biden is elected, there will be no cops and private citizens will be
forbidden to own guns (except liberal office holders and their private
security).
4) Every major metropolitan area will look like Portland, Chicago, New York or St. Louis.
5)
Undocumented democrats will be welcomed from wherever they came, and
will get free health care and welfare payments. They will be able to
drive without licenses or insurance and will be exempt from most laws,
including those against owning and carrying weapons illegally. Weapons
laws will be vigorously enforced against citizens and legal resident
aliens..
6) All carbon based
fuels will be outlawed, and you can freeze in the dark during the winter
and sweat in the dark during the summer, you ungrateful bastards.
7) Donald Trump is still evil.

Howie, maybe some of these (except #6) are SLIGHTLY exaggerated, but they are not that far out there. And, unfortunate though it is, roughly 35-40 % of the population will vote for anyone with a D next to their name, no matter how bat-shit crazy they or their positions might be. It is hard to run against Santa Claus. Free shit for everybody may not be realistic, but it still might be a winner. The concept of "enlightened self-interest" is lost on many people, especially the enlightened part.
