I
am old but I don't remember the last time I heard of this happening. A
LOT of cops carry a knife, mostly for use as a tool. They are only
rarely used as a weapon. This time it was.
Back
on May 7 Mark Fogle, 54, of Clackamas, Oregon, was involved in a motor
vehicle crash at about 11 p.m. in Vancouver, Clark County, WA. Fogle
was arrested and taken to a nearby State Patrol Scale House for a BAC
test. Just before midnight Deputy Bryson Layton radioed in for
assistance. He also reported that Fogle was trying to get his gun and,
shortly thereafter, that he had stabbed Fogle.
Fogle died of multiple stab wounds. There is both body came and internal surveillance footage of the incident.
The
deputy is on routine administrative leave while the investigation is
under way. There is some reason to believe that Fogle was planning to
shoot himself if he got control of the weapon.
