YOU CAN BET THE HECKLERS WERE LIBERAL JEWS

The significance of this report is not what the Israeli Prime Minister said but that he was heckled at the annual convention of the Jewish Federations of North America to which he had been invited. It’s really sad that the most anti-Israel Americans are liberal Jews. The hecklers must have made George Soros proud. And they most likely pleased Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as well.

The following report is from The Straits Times, a Singapore newspaper:

ISRAEL ‘WILL NOT BE DICTATED TO’

NEW ORLEANS - ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday urged Palestinians to return to the negotiating table, warning that the Jewish state will not yield to international dictates.

Speaking before a gathering of the Jewish Federations of North America in New Orleans, the premier said the Palestinians should stop imposing preconditions on a resumption of US-backed direct talks.

'If you want to live peacefully next to us come and negotiate peace with us. Palestinian leaders who genuinely want peace should stop placing preconditions and start negotiating peace,' Mr Netanyahu said.

Direct peace talks which began in early September quickly ran aground when an Israeli moratorium on West Bank settlement construction expired six weeks ago, prompting the Palestinians to freeze ties until Israel reimposes the ban.

'Why does the Palestinian Authority shirk away from peace? Perhaps the Palestinians think that they can avoid negotiations. Perhaps they think the world will dictate Palestinian demands to Israel,' he said.

'I firmly believe that that will not happen, because we will not be dictated to, because I am also confident that the friends of Israel led by the United States will not let that happen.'

The prime minister's speech was interrupted several times by hecklers, some of whom were ushered out of the conference hall by security guards. -- AFP
