The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is one of those wonderful appointed agencies that has a huge amount of power and zero accountability. They have just announced that the plan-intend-anticipate that no new internal combustion powered vehicles will be available in the formerly great state of California in about ten years.
Now I grant you they may be overplaying their hand. These agencies do, on occasion, get kicked in the nuts when they get real stupid. It happened to the Coastal Commission a few years back when they told people in coastal zones that they could not rebuild houses that had burnt down in a fire because they would not under the current rules be able to build a new house at that location. That is the sort of bullshit that makes sense to appointed fanatics.
Presumably members of the government would be exempt. Including, presumably, members of the Air Resources Board.
