GIMPS GO AFTER UBER

by Bob Walsh

A group of disability advocates are going after Uber (to be followed by actions against other ride share operations if this one is successful) for not having enough WAV (wheel chair accessible vehicles) on the road. According to the lawsuit, In San Francisco and Alameda County, about 80% of the time when requested there will NOT be a WAV available.

The lawsuit is of course asserting that the problem is Uber's fault. My understanding is that Uber does not provide or maintain vehicles or drivers but merely acts as a connector between the two. I am unsure how they can compel people with WAVs make themselves available.

Perhaps they should go out and commandeer such vehicles by force and compel the driver-owners to drive for them.
