TAX BOARD TELLS MOONBEAM TO KICK ROCKS

by Bob Walsh

The California Board of Equalization did something very unusual this week. Noting that the formerly great state of California has just enacted a HUGE increase in fuel taxes by act of the legislature they told Governor Jerry Brown that they would NOT give an additional four cents per gallon fuel tax. The vote was 2-2, which means the action was NOT taken.

There is still another increase coming. Due to a senate bill passed last year the tax has already gone up 12.7 cents per gallon. In July of next year it is due to go up again, another 5.6 cents per gallon.
