LATE NOMINATION FOR 2017 CAREGIVER OF THE YEAR

by Bob Walsh

I just became aware of this so I hope the nomination committee will accept this very tardy nomination.

On October 21 of 2017 the cops responded to a residence on Cleveland Avenue in Atlanta. There they found first responders doing CPR on Kejuan Mason, age 3.

Gloria Mason, the boys legal guardian, told the cops that she had given young Mr. Mason and four other children at the home a cupcake and that he choked on it. After that her statements got a bit fuzzy and contradictory. He died shortly after that in Atlanta Medical Center.

An autopsy revealed that somebody had beat the shit out of the kid.

The cops now believe LaShirley Morris, Gloria's sister and Gloria both beat the child, one of them with a baseball bat, because he stole a cupcake from the kitchen.

They were both originally detained pending a $200,000 bail. The sisters were granted bond despite the possible life sentence because they were short-staffed in the prosecutor's office and the case was not presented within the normal 90 day time limit. The women have since requested a reduction in bail, which has not been granted.
