SHREVEPORT, Louisiana -- The live-in boyfriend of a rookie Louisiana police officer was one of three people arrested for her murder after investigators say he “concocted” a story about the fatal shooting.

Treveon Anderson, Lawrence Pierre and Glenn Frierson were all charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday in connection with the slaying of Shreveport Officer Chateri Payne, who was just 22.

Anderson claimed he was inside their home when Payne was shot four times on Jan. 9. He said he went outside when he heard the gunshots and fired at the person he believed to be the suspect.

“We believe Anderson shot and killed her and concocted the false narrative of her being murdered by an unknown suspect,” Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Pierre admitted to police that he was outside the home when the officer was shot, and that Anderson fired the shots, according to the Shreveport Times. He also told investigators where to find the .40-caliber weapon, and said the three of them are cousins, according to the newspaper.

The 22-year-old Pierre works as a clerk for the Caddo Parish Juvenile Court, according to the Shreveport Times. Frierson, who is 38, is a barber.

Friends on social media indicated that Officer Payne and Anderson, 26, were engaged to be married.

“We may never know whether officer Payne's chosen profession contributed to her death, but we do know a uniformed police officer was killed moments before beginning her shift,” Raymond said.

The police chief said the investigation is ongoing, and would not rule out the possibility of more arrests and more charges.

“We are still mourning the heinous murder of Officer Payne,” he said. “But thanks to these men and women, we can have some peace in taking three evil cowards off of our streets so they cannot harm anyone else.”

It was pretty obvious from the onset that this was personal and not job related IMHO>
