GREAT IDEA TED ….. BUT TRY FINDING THE MONEY

Sen. Ted Cruz reintroduces his ‘EL CHAPO’ act to pay for Trump’s wall

In 2017, Sen. Ted Cruz introduced ‘Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order’ act, better known as the ‘EL CHAPO’ act which would seize the money of drug lords and use it for border security. The bill failed to get out of congress.

On Tuesday, Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, was convicted on ten counts, including conspiracy to commit murder. He will be sentenced in June and is expected to spend the rest of his life in the federal ‘Super Max’ prison in Colorado.

El Chapo is believed to be worth $14 billion. Cruz reintroduced his bill Tuesday because he wants the feds to seize El Chapo’s dough and use it to build Trump’s border wall. Trump said, “Anything Ted does is interesting. So that's certainly an interesting one,”

I don’t know whether El Chapo is worth $14 billion or just $14. Where is his money stashed? Nice try Ted, but finding El Chapo’s ill begotten money may be harder than prying the funds for Trump’s wall out of congress.

If you want to fund the wall, tack $1 on every legal border entry. Done.

Do you have any idea of how long it would take to raise $1 billion at one dollar a head? And Trump wants $5.7 billion.

I think you will be surprised at the border crossing data. I supervised several border crossings from Laredo to Brownsville in 2000 for the collection of alcohol taxes. I was very surprised at the numbers. What if you included all ports of entry including International Airports?

There is a lot of data located here. This is a lot of money at $1 a head.
