The A. G. of the formerly great state of California, Xavier Becerra, has issued direction limiting the access of ICE agents to California courts. Trouble is, the direction is not worth jack because the state can not tell the feds what they can and can not do.
That being said, last week ICE paid a visit to the Fresno court and snagged Oscar Rene Perez, who was facing domestic violence, ADW and criminal threats charges.
According to Becerra the administrative warrants that ICE typically uses do not give ICE agents "any special power to compel courthouse personnel to cooperate with his or her request." Becerra also asserts that ICE agents "should not" have access to restricted areas of court facilities without a judicial warrant.
So far ICE does not seem to give a shit.
