Lateefah Simon is unusual in one respect. She is the new president of the board of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District. She is unusual in that she actually uses public transit. Not necessarily because she wants to. Due to medical issues she can not get a drivers license. That's OK, a lot of people don't drive or don't own cars.
The admitted former frequent fare evader has made social justice, including putting low income housing onto BART parking lots, a primary goal of hers. Damn, I must be old. I thought the goal of a Transit District was to move people around safety, efficiently and economically. I guess I am just not woke enough.
