In July 2021, Illinois was the first state to require teaching at least one unit of media literacy in public schools, which educators hope will be integrated throughout all grade levels and classes.
There is an interesting legislative proposal going thru
the process right now in the formerly great state of California. This
would create a MANDATORY school class on "Media Literacy." This
proposal would specifically require that students be taught what the
difference is between 'fake news" and "real news."
The state would be the determiner of what is fake news and what is not. Gee, I don't see any problem there.
