Keechant Sewell was the first female commissioner of the NYPD. The media wants to make sure you
are aware of this fact, or at least they used to. Not so sure about
now. She lasted less than 18 months.
Assuming
you believe the background noise, Mayor Adams is a micromanager and
wanted to functionally be the Police Commissioner as well as the Mayor.
Sewell has made no formal announcement of why she bailed out with
essentially zero notice.
