July 12, 2023
Matthew Mannix was arrested after a six-hour standoff with police.
The man accused of holding a woman hostage for hours in a room at Las Vegas’ iconic Caesars Palace resort caused more than $50,000 in damages and was “extremely high on drugs” at the time, according to a police report.
Matthew Mannix, 35, was arrested Tuesday after a tense six-hour standoff with police during which he taunted them by repeatedly “opening and closing the door” and telling them he had a gun while threatening to “pull the trigger” according to a Las Vegas Metropolitan police report obtained by KLAS.
Police told reporters on Tuesday they responded to the scene around 9:15 a.m. after hotel security reported that Mannix had pulled the woman into the room “by force” during an argument.
The Colorado fugitive threatened hotel security and police, telling them that the situation would end badly if they refused to leave.
A woman’s voice could be heard yelling through the door, “he has a knife,” according to the report.
Mannix was holed up in the iconic Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Video recorded at the scene showed him throwing furniture out of the 21st floor window that he had busted open, sending guests fleeing from the hotel’s pool area where the objects came crashing down below.
The woman in the room, whose name was redacted in the report, was also very high on drugs.
She and Mannix had been on a days-long drug bender at the time and had been living a transient lifestyle on the Las Vegas Strip, she told police.
It’s not clear what drugs they had been using.
She said she and Mannix had an on-and-off sexual relationship. She believed that Mannix was an MTV actor, she said.
During the standoff, she said she didn’t leave the room because Mannix had threatened her with a knife. She was also scared that he would throw her out of the broken window.
Police said Tuesday that the woman was uninjured in the ordeal.

ne veteran officer noted in the report that officers saw “some of the most severe property damage that I have seen in my 18 years as a detective.”
While a final damage amount has not been determined, officials estimate the damages to be worth more than $50,000.
Mannix has a warrant out for his arrest in Colorado, although the offense was redacted in the police report, KLAS reported.
He additionally has four active protection orders issued against him.
He was charged in Clark County, Nevada with kidnapping, coercion with force or threat of force with a deadly weapon, destroying or injuring real or personal property, resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon and disregarding the safety of people and property.
He is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Wednesday afternoon, the outlet reported.

Long Island man charged in naked Las Vegas rampage was drugged, family claims

Brian Danilczyk is accused of slugging a one-legged man and dancing naked on a Las Vegas poker table.
A Long Island man accused of slugging a one-legged man and dancing naked on a Las Vegas poker table only went berserk because someone spiked his drink, his family claimed on Tuesday.
Brian Danilczyk, 35, was in Sin City for a bachelor party Sunday night when he guzzled a drink before going off the deep end, according to his wife and dad.
The relatives claimed in separate interviews with The Post that Danilczyk’s oddball behavior was caused by some type of hallucinogenic drug that was slipped into his beverage.
“I will start by saying that we are good people and my husband is a great person. He would NEVER act in such a way,” his wife, Michele Danilczyk, said in a text message on Tuesday. “He is the victim.
Danilczyk’s wife, Michele, claims the Long Island man was drugged.
“The person who chose to drug my husband is the true criminal and is to blame for such behavior,” she said. “His drink was laced with some type of drug that caused a severe hallucinogenic reaction.
“He has no recollection of it happening so we are working extensively at the emergency room and visiting doctors for a toxicology reading to find out exactly what type of drug it was,” Michele Danilczyk said. “We live a very happy and blessed life.”
Las Vegas police said Brian Danilczyk allegedly slugged a one-legged man at the Bird Bar at the Flamingo Hotel around 11:20 p.m. Sunday, then fled out onto the Strip.
He stripped off his clothes and walked naked into Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, where he is seen on surveillance footage “flaunting his genitalia while gyrating” on top of a poker table, police said.
Vegas cops wrestled him down and charged him with disorderly conduct, battery and five counts of indecent exposure — although he has no recollection of any of it, his family said.
His father, William Danilczyk, said his son was “in an altered state of mind” at the time.

“He and his friend were sitting outside talking about homeowners insurance,” the elder Danilczyk said. “And somebody inside bought a round for everybody. They were getting ready to leave the bar, and they called them inside and said, ‘Hey, they bought a round, the drinks are sitting here.’
“So they came in and drank their drinks, and he went outside, and 10, 15 minutes later, he says to his friend, ‘I”m feeling off. Something’s weird. Something’s wrong with me,'” he said.
“He started getting all paranoid and ran off. They went after him and found him, and were trying to calm him down, but he just started getting worse and worse and worse, and basically, this drug took over and he took off running.”

His father said the outrageous behavior is entirely out of character for his son, a computer programmer with a degree from Villanova University who just bought a house with his expectant wife.
“I’m 33 weeks pregnant and the fact that someone put our family in this situation is so disheartening,” Michele Danilczyk said. “I’m glad to have him home and in a safe place. We are counting our blessings and look forward to when we can put this behind us.”
