Ray Jordan, 10, was playing with friends outside in Columbia for the Fourth of July when he guzzled six bottles of water in an hour
Ray Jordan was enjoying his Fourth of July holiday weekend in the blistering hot sun when he downed six bottles of water in an hour, leading to a medical emergency that almost cost the boy his life.
His relieved parents Stacey and Jeff said within an hour of their son drinking the water, his 'motor functions were gone', and it 'almost seemed like he was on drugs, drunk, or even mentally handicapped'.
As panic set in, the 10-year-old was rushed to Prisma Health Children's Hospital. There, emergency tests were run on Ray. and it was found he was suffering from 'water intoxication'.
The 10-year-old has since
thankfully made a full recovery, but his parents' warnings serve as a
reminder to others over the dangers presented by the hot summer months.
