ROLLING HILLS ESTATE IS ROLLING

Landslide in California continues to swallow nearly a dozen homes as officials say there is no way of stopping the ground from shifting: 'Pretty much every minute you hear creaking, cracking and shattering glass'

On the scene in Rolling Hills Estate Sunday afternoon, local journalists reported hearing sounds of cracks and movement underneath their feet - fueling fears that further evacuation may be soon necessary.

Several have already been left homeless - and 16 evacuated - after the ground beneath them suddenly shifted Saturday afternoon, leaving homes partially collapsed and the ground along usually placid Peartree Lane cracked.

The city, set a stone's throw from Long Beach, has since said it's also working with the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD) and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's to monitor the situation, its continued affects, and its potential cause.

In the meantime, the street where the crisis is unfolding remains closed to the public as of Tuesday - available only to residents, city officials and public safety staff, the city has said, as it warns it cannot promise the worst has already passed.

For most people OCEAN VIEW does not mean from the middle of the ocean. Or even IN the ocean. I wonder how many of them are insured?
